Job Openings in Autism Association (Singapore) / Eden School

The Autism Association (Singapore) or AA(S), www.autismlinks.org.sg, is one of the non-profit organizations in Singapore, dedicated to support individuals with autism and help them lead meaningful lives in society. AA(S) runs two Early Intervention Centres for children with autism, and two Day Activity Centres for adults with autism.


In addition, Eden School, www.edenschool.edu.sg, started by AA(S), offers a quality education for students with autism who require more time in building foundational skills and/or are assessed to be more suitable for a vocational route. It offers a unique blend of Functional Academics, Pre-Vocational and other important Life Skills.


AA(S) is an independent and expanding charity formed in Aug 1992 by a group of parents. In January 1995, it was registered as a charitable organisation under the Charities Act, Singapore. In July 1997, AA(S) was admitted as a member of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS). It was also granted the Institutions of a Public Character (IPC) status, allowing the Association to issue tax-exempt receipts for public donations.

  • Developing a differentiated curriculum combining functional academics, life skills and vocational skills
  • Delivering lessons using a combination of methodology that is pupil-focused, fun and autism-friendly
  • Creating a structured environment for meaningful learning
  • Implementing and monitoring progress of students’ Individual Education Plan goals
  • Collaborating effectively with parents to generalize skills learnt in school


  • Minimum 5 GCE ‘O’ Levels (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics and
  • 2 ‘A’ /H2 Level passes & 2 ‘AO’ /H1 Level passes (including General Paper or Knowledge Inquiry) / A good overall International Baccalaureate Diploma score or
  • A Diploma or Degree from a recognized local educational institution; or Diploma in Autism, Education or Special Education
  • Relevant experience in teaching special needs students will be an advantage

  • Develop differentiated PE curriculum
  • Deliver quality education services to students with autism so that each child is developed to the best of his/her potential in life skills
  • Plan and deliver effective differentiated Physical Education lessons to cater to different needs of the students
  • Be actively involved in Co-Curricular and Committee duties as assigned by the school
  • All other duties as assigned by the school management


  • A Diploma or Degree in Physical Education from a recognized educational institution
  • 1 Year of relevant work experience
  • Teaching or Nursing experience is an advantage
  • Good command of verbal and written English
  • Strong organizational skills, keen to details and can work with minimum supervision
  • Team player, flexible and have strong sense of responsibility
  • Experience working in Social Service Sector is an advantage



Performance of Clients

  • Maintain and develop a proper system of administration of Client's Individualized Education Plan (IEP), Individual Care Plan (ICP), attendance, training programme records and administrative records
  • Plan and execute all therapeutic and training activities for Clients
  • Develop, prepare and manage inventory of all training materials
  • Supervise Clients during all indoor/outdoor activities ensuring safety and welfare
  • Create / improve supervision methods as advised by Supervisors/Consultants

Welfare of Clients

  • Ensure that the welfare and behaviour of Clients are appropriately taken care of, as advised by Supervisors/Consultants
  • Pre / Post Agency Visits for transfer cases to ensure smooth transition of Clients
  • Regular Home Visits to monitor Clients welfare
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety standards at the centre 
  • Preserve confidentiality of Clients at all times


  • Prepare and submit IEPs, ICPs, Progress Reports, Lesson Plans and Incident Reports to the HOC and / or Consultants
  • Ensure that up-to-date Client records, including details of assessment are maintained
  • Collect learning data and maintain documentation file


  • At least a Diploma/degree from a recognized educational institution
  • Relevant experience in the fields of Special Education, Nursing, Counselling or Care services is preferred
  • Experience in Community Service with exposure to youths / adults with autism is an added advantage

  1. Assessment
    • Conduct functional behaviour analysis and develop Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs)
    • Conduct screening assessments related to school admission, vocational and other Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) related assessments

  2. Intervention
    • Plan and execute intervention programmes for students with autism in group or individual setting
    • Coach key partners to apply educational and behavioural techniques to carry out intervention plans at home and in class
    • Provide behavior management support to students and attend to school student behavior crisis line
    • Coordinate activities related to case management of students
    • Facilitate training for caregivers / staff
    • Any other responsibilities required by your Supervisor

  3. Leadership Duties
    • To articulate the Autism Therapist's role scope and responsibilities to teachers, other school professionals, administrators, support personnel, families and the community
    • To provide routine reporting on agreed KPIs for Autism Therapists service provision
    • To positively influence the development of programs and policies & procedures to promote best practice in Autism Therapists service provision
    • To be directly involved in the assessment of needs and development of Autism Therapists services to meet priority needs areas in consultation with leaders
    • To provide Supervision and Mentorship inducting new professionals and/or supervising / mentoring new Autism Therapists.
    • To be involved in WeCAN Carer Training as required.
    • To establish and maintain professional linkages to the national and international Psychology Professional bodies.


  • Possess a Masters in Psychology or equivalent
  • With at least 5 years relevant work experience in the same or related field
  • A member of Singapore Psychological Society or must be eligible for full registration
  • Evident proficiency in English Language
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast paced work environment

  1. Assessment
    Responsible to conduct the following:
    • Intake Assessment for students applying to Eden School
    • Representation Assessment
    • Vocational Assessment
    • Behavioural Assessment
    • External Transitional Assessment
    • High Needs Grant Assessment

  2. Coaching
    • Supervision in 5 features / Discrete Trial Teaching / Visual Teaching
    • Responsible in coaching new teachers in foundational competencies
    • Implement behavior plans with teachers
    • Assist and support teachers in all major school events

  3. Behaviour Management
    • Attend to Crisis Hotline for any behaviour issues
    • Craft Individual Behaviour Plans for students

  4. Monitoring
    • Coordinates student's behaviour management cases and follow up behaviour plans

  5. Project Development
    • Responsible in development of ASD supports

  6. Trainings
    • Participate in AITC training and PCN sharing

  7. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal


  • Degree holder in Psychology, preferably 2nd upper honours
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Good command of verbal and written English

  • Adapts school and classroom environment, tools and materials for the purpose of improving student functioning and facilitating student access to curricular and instructional activities
  • Assesses students' fine motor and development skills for purpose of determining their needs and develop recommendations
  • Implements therapeutic activities for providing appropriate care to students and/or support the student's IEP plan for use in classrooms
  • Participates in collaborative consultation model to provide requested information, review/revise students' occupational therapy goals, develop plans for services and make recommendations to implement goals
  • Maintenance of files/records, intervention equipments and supplies
  • Provide training, consultation, and instruction to teachers on the use of adaptive devices and equipment for the purpose of ensuring such devices are used appropriately and optimal benefits are achieved
  • Researches resources and methods (e.g. intervention and treatment techniques) for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing students' functional goals



  • Possess a Diploma / Degree / Post-graduate Qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • Relevant working experience as an Occupational Therapist with children in a school or hospital setting is preferred
  • Evident proficiency in English Language
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Qualifies to be registered with the Allied Health Professional Council as a Full-time Registered Therapist
  • Desire to learn about Autism and expand knowledge base

  • Assesses and identifies speech, language and functional communication needs in children with Autism
  • Assesses formally and informally an student's current profile and the influence of the communication partner and the learning environment across everyday situations
  • Participates in a Collaborative Consultation Model with the members of AITC team, teachers, families, etc. for the purpose of providing requested information, reviewing/revising student's communication therapy goals/objectives, developing plans for services and/or making recommendations to implement goals
  • Implements evidence-based therapeutic activities and instruct students, teachers, parents and other involved persons for the purpose of facilitating effective communication for students and/or supporting the student's IEP plan for use in the classroom
  • Presents information (e.g. student assessment findings, coaching feedback, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, gaining and providing feedback to others
  • Makes necessary referrals to external speech language therapy services when intervention needs exceed classroom intervention scope
  • Provides AAC training, consultation and instruction to teachers on the use of alternative/augmentative communication supports
  • Researches resources and methods (e.g. intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing student's functional goals
  • Maintain files and/or records (e.g. assessment notes, progress reports, coaching logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or follow standard operational procedures
  • Maintain inventory equipment and supplies in clean and proper working condition for the purpose of implementing therapy goals



  • Possess a Bachelor or Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathologist
  • Relevant working experience as a Speech and Language Therapist in a school or hospital setting is preferred
  • Evident proficiency in English Language
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Qualifies to be registered with the Allied Health Professional Council as a Full-time Registered Therapist
  • Desire to learn about Autism and expand knowledge base
