The Autism Association (Singapore) (AAS), www.autismlinks.org.sg, is one of the non-profit organizations in Singapore, dedicated to support individuals with autism and help them lead meaningful lives in society. AAS runs two Early Intervention Centres for children with autism, and a Day Activity Centre for adults with autism.

 

In addition, Eden School, www.edenschool.edu.sg, started by AAS, offers a quality education for students with autism who require more time in building foundational skills and/or are assessed to be more suitable for a vocational route. It now offers a unique blend of Functional Academics, Pre-Vocational and other important Life Skills.

SPED TEACHER

Responsibilities:

  • Developing a differentiated curriculum combining functional academics, life skills and vocational skills
  • Delivering lessons using a combination of methodology that is pupil-focused, fun and autism-friendly
  • Creating a structured environment for meaningful learning
  • Implementing and monitoring progress of students’ Individual Education Plan goals
  • Collaborating effectively with parents to generalize skills learnt in school

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 GCE ‘O’ Levels (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics and
  • 2 ‘A’ /H2 Level passes & 2 ‘AO’ /H1 Level passes (including General Paper or Knowledge Inquiry) / A good overall International Baccalaureate Diploma score or
  • A Diploma or Degree from a recognized local educational institution; or Diploma in Autism, Education or Special Education
  • Relevant experience in teaching special needs students will be an advantage

EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAMME TEACHER (SIMEI)

Responsibilities:

Delivers the following under the supervision of an assigned mentor:

  • Assesses autism learning needs of students using key assessment documents and processes
  • Plans appropriate lessons and activities to meet the goals as listed in the child's Individualised Educational Plan (IEP)
  • Uses autism specific strategies in implementation of intervention to achieve IEP goals
  • Prepares appropriate materials for lesson delivery
  • Monitors, documents and reports on progress of child on IEP goals
  • Works closely with parents / careers throughout child's intervention process
  • Initiates discussions with team members on combined sessions
  • Submits all reports and data sheets on a timely basis.

Requirements:

  • Diploma / Degree in Early Childhood Education or Pre-school Teaching or equivalent
  • Relevant teaching experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

ART TEACHER

Responsibilities:

  • Developing Differentiated Art Curriculum
  • Planning, Conducting and Delivering Art lessons using a Combination of Methodology that is pupil-focused, fun and Autism-friendly
  • Teaching Model and Grouping of Students
  • Talent Management
  • Preparation of Teaching Materials
  • Upkeep of Art Room inventory
  • Budget Planning and Purchasing
  • Progress Reporting
  • All other duties as assigned by the School Management

Requirements:

  • Preferably Art-trained
  • A Diploma or Degree from a Recognized Art Institution
  • Prior Working Experience with Special Needs individuals would be an advantage
  • Personal Art Portfolio to be presented

CLASS COACH (DAY ACTIVITY CENTRE)

Responsibilities:

Performance of Clients

  • Maintain and develop a proper system of administration of Client's Individualized Education Plan (IEP), Individual Care Plan (ICP), attendance, training programme records and administrative records
  • Plan and execute all therapeutic and training activities for Clients
  • Supervise Clients during all outdoor activities ensuring safety and welfare
  • Create / improve supervision methods as advised by Consultants

Welfare of Clients

  • Ensure that the welfare and behaviour of Clients are appropriately taken care of, as advised by Consultants
  • Pre / post Agency Visits for transfer cases to ensure smooth transition of Clients
  • Regular Home Visits to monitor Clients welfare

Documentation

  • Prepare and submit IEPs, ICPs, Progress Reports, Lesson Plans and Incident Reports to the HOC and / or Consultants
  • Ensure that up-to-date Client records, including details of assessment are maintained
  • Collect learning data and maintain documentation file

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in the fields of Special Education, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, etc.
  • At least a Diploma from a recognized educational institution in the fields mentioned above
  • Experience in Community Service with exposure to youths / adults with autism is an added advantage
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Meticulous and good organizing skills
  • Team player and able to work independently

CLASS ASSOCIATE COACH (DAY ACTIVITY CENTRE)

Responsibilities:

Performance of Clients

TEACHER-AIDE (PART-TIME)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher in the class to work with the students with autism
  • Assist the teacher to set up the resources and physical arrangements in the class
  • Assist the teacher to prepare resources for teaching and learning
  • Assist the teacher when they bring the students out of school for their off-site activities
  • Assist the teachers in charge of special rooms to prepare resources for teaching resources and learning, set up the resources and physical arrangements in the room
  • All other duties as assigned by the school management

Requirements:

  • Minimum "O" Level
  • Minimum one year of relevant work experience
  • Teaching or Nursing experience is an advantage

Responsibilities:

  • Support Art and PE Teachers in preparation of teaching materials and lesson plan
  • Assist in setting up resources and in charge of physical arrangement of materials needed in Play@Recess
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Level Heads, Principal or Vice Principal

Requirements:

  • Minimum 'O' Level or its equivalent
  • Preferably with teaching and/or nursing background

TEMPORARY ADMIN OFFICER (6 MONTHS CONTRACT)

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides administrative support for Education and Training Services
  2. Be responsible for the management and maintenance of education-related & co-curricular activities documents
  3. Be responsible for timely submission of reports and coordination to different stakeholders
  4. Provides administrative support for General Office matters
  5. Cover reception duties as and if needed
  6. Assist in school wide activities and events
  7. Assist in document filing and administrative matters
  8. Provides administrative support for Finance, staff related and service provider matters
  9. Responsible in management and maintenance of attendance records and documents
  10. Responsible in management of receipts, payments, etc.
  11. Assist in banking of school's cash/cheque proceeds
  12. Any other duties as assigned by General Office Managers, Principal or Vice Principal

Requirements:

  • A Polytechnic Diploma, GCE 'A' Level or equivalent
  • Preferably with at least 2 years work experience in administrative role and/or in the same capacity

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Responsibilities:

  • Adapts school and classroom environment, tools and materials for the purpose of improving student functioning and facilitating student access to curricular and instructional activities
  • Assesses students' fine motor and development skills for purpose of determining their needs and develop recommendations
  • Implements therapeutic activities for providing appropriate care to students and/or support the student's IEP plan for use in classrooms
  • Participates in collaborative consultation model to provide requested information, review/revise students' occupational therapy goals, develop plans for services and make recommendations to implement goals
  • Maintenance of files/records, intervention equipments and supplies
  • Provide training, consultation, and instruction to teachers on the use of adaptive devices and equipment for the purpose of ensuring such devices are used appropriately and optimal benefits are achieved
  • Researches resources and methods (e.g. intervention and treatment techniques) for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing students' functional goals

 

Requirements:

  • Possess a Diploma / Degree / Post-graduate Qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • Relevant working experience as an Occupational Therapist with children in a school or hospital setting is preferred
  • Evident proficiency in English Language
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Qualifies to be registered with the Allied Health Professional Council as a Full-time Registered Therapist
  • Desire to learn about Autism and expand knowledge base

GARDENER

Responsibilities:

  • Taking care of the school horticulture works, e.g. watering and pruning of plants
  • Maintaining the landscape and surroundings of Eden School daily
  • Ensure cleanliness of school landscape at all times
  • Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by Operations Manager

Requirements:

  • Minimum PSLE or related fields
  • Experience in gardening works
  • Healthy, flexible, and have a strong sense of responsibility
  • Experience working in Social Service Sector is an advantage
