PREVIEW OF PANDAS

8 November 2012

The Rotary Club (Suntec City) invited 20 students and their families to meet Kai Kai and Jia Jia at the Giant Panda Preview at the Singapore Zoo on 8 November 2012. In support of our Dads for Life programme, many fathers also turned up for a fun morning with their children.

The sun was up and excitement was in the air when we arrived at the Singapore Zoo. The pandas’ new house was big and cool, and green and lush with many plants, especially bamboos. There was even a waterfall created just for Kai Kai and Jia Jia to play in! Kai Kai and Jia Jia just woke up from their slumber as we entered their home and they seemed excited to meet us!

After saying goodbye to the two cuddly pandas, we moved on to our next adventure at Kidzworld. Along the way, we were greeted by several dancing flamingoes, silly chimpanzees, giant elephants, laid back Orang Utans, gentle giraffes, as well as sleepy rhinos and stripy zebras.

During the Animal Friend Show, we were greatly entertained by the mice, cats, dogs and ferrets with their amazing tricks and stunts. However, the highlight of the show was the hula hoop dance competition which two of our students, Nimisha and Nurshalini, eagerly volunteered and took part in, along with children from other countries. All our teachers and students were so proud of them and thrilled to see them participate and integrate seamlessly into the activity with other children.

As the adventure ended for some of us who returned to Eden School, other tireless families remained behind to continue their adventure. Thank you to the Rotary Club (Suntec City) for making this a very special and memorable day for us!
