Chinese New Year Celebrations 2016

The festive spirit was evidently present as Edenites welcomed the Year of the Monkey at this year’s Chinese New Year celebrations. Prior to the celebration day on 5th February 2016, classrooms were already decorated with festal items such as red packets, couplets and knot pendants.

On the day of the celebration, students and teachers alike came to school wearing their Chinese traditional costumes or red clothings. Edenites were treated to various performances which included a wushu display by our friends from Princess Elizabeth Primary School and a dance performance by our very own Youth for Autism (YFA) interns.

The highlight was of course, the lion dance, a performance that students always look forward to. The sight of the two lions displaying their acrobatic moves against the energetic rhythms of the drums definitely excited the audience.

Edenites also received a goodie bag as a memento of the day’s celebration. Sponsored by Eden School’s Patron, Ms Ho Ching, the goodie bag contained snacks, toys, a special MRT mug and the ubiquitous oranges. Thank you to the organisers and sponsors who made Chinese New Year celebrations an enjoyable one!
