Through the CCA Programme, the school aims to provide opportunities to develop the students’ talents and interests, as well as equip them with meaningful and age-appropriate leisure skills which they can share and enjoy with their family members. It also allows them to move beyond academics and explore other areas of interest. The school offers a wide range of activities to cater to diverse abilities.
A total of 120 students took part in the various activities in 2011. CCA was first started as the ASSIST Programme in 2006 with teachers conducting the classes. Over time, with feedback from both staff and parents, students were put through a modular programme in 2008 and 2009 to assess their interest and ability in the various CCAs.
To enhance the quality of the programmes, external vendors with expertise in teaching students with special needs are engaged to conduct the programmes. Regular feedback is obtained from the staff supporting the programmes. The school will continue to source for and expand the range of CCAs.
