Eden’s two new sensory parks were recently launched… with a bang, literally!
On the morning of 21 October Monday, sounds of giant party crackers popping and excited squeals from the children filled the air as the official opening ceremony of FUN SQUARE and FITNESSCAPE got underway. The construction of these parks started three months ago, although planning efforts had already commenced earlier than that. Gracing the special occasion were six representatives from Catlin Asia Pacific and President’s Challenge, two donor organizations whose generous funding have helped made the parks a reality.
While the ribbon was cut by Catlin Asia Pacific’s Chief Financial Officer Ms Boo Hui Yun and President’s Challenge Secretariat Manager Ms Karen Bartholmeusz, party crackers popped to give a flutter of colorful confetti all around the lawn. Thereafter, selected classes of Eden students took turns to demonstrate the use of the parks’ equipment. At FUN SQUARE in particular, this was done without any prompting and with plenty of glee and giggles. One student encapsulated the children’s sense of delight completely. When asked to stop play and help present a token of appreciation to our guests, Xu Ting declined. “But I want to play!”, he said while running towards another equipment. Xu Ting obviously had more important things to do on his mind that day.
