The Autism Association (Singapore) Annual Address took place in the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) of Eden School on the 23rd of January 2015. Gathered together were staff members from Eden School, Eden Children’s Centre and Eden Centre for Adults. Everyone enjoyed a delectable buffet spread in the café before heading up to the MPH.
The emcee for the evening was Miss Christine Benjamin from Eden School who introduced the evening’s programme with a ukulele performance by members of Eden’s Ukelele special interest group led by Mr. Jude Basiga.
Mr. Krish Phua, Corporate Services Manager from AAS provided updates on manpower and enrolment statistics and staff welfare activities. This was followed by reports from the heads of the Eden Children’s Centre (Ms Paula and Ms Tutie), Eden School (Mrs Jenny Lai, Ms Melaine and Mr Daniel) and Eden Centre for Adults. (Ms Paul and Mr. Sarayanan); sharing progress in staff and student statistics, key school events and focus for 2015.
Ms Denise Phua, AAS Board Member and Eden School’s Supervisor closed the evening with an inspiring story about the oyster; how a pearl is formed from a foreign particle. She related this to the process of nurturing our students and clients with ‘grace’ and ‘love’ so that they too will become ‘pearls’ under our loving care.
The evening concluded on a buoyant note with everyone in the hall coming together for a ‘wefie’, reinforcing how we are all connected to each other in impacting the lives of people with autism.
