Chinese New Year Celebrations 2015

The hall was filled with a sea of red, as excited Edenites decked in their festive t-shirts and cheongsams, arrived in school all geared up for the Chinese New Year celebrations held on 17th February 2015. It was the first special event for the year, and a highly anticipated one by many as well!

The morning celebrations were hosted by Teacher Theresa and student Cedrik from Cayley AM, while the afternoon hosts were Teacher Hui Wen and student Vuitton from Ascott PM.

The celebrations kicked off with an attention-grabbing and engaging animated dance and presentation by the emcees. This was followed by a fun video featuring many Edenites singing, dancing and expressing their well-wishes and greetings for the festive year ahead. Students were treated to a catchy mass dance-a-long choreographed by Teacher Hui Wen, Teacher Kimberly and Teacher Farhan. The morning session also saw an exhilarating dance performance by students from Fraser, Cayley, and Fullerton class which brought many students to their feet! In the afternoon, students were entertained by a delightful flag dance led by Cayley PM, and dance-a-long by Fraser PM.

Other highlights included a choir performance by Jurongville Secondary School students, and the highly anticipated Lion Dance! The acrobatic lion dancers kept everyone’s eyes glued to the stage. The crowd roared with delight when the lions threw peeled orange slices high in the air to the audience.

It was truly a memorable day for everyone, and a great way to start a new Lunar New Year.
