The annual Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) organised by the Ministry of Education celebrates the talents of the youth in the arts. This year’s SYF Art Exhibition ‘Past. Present. Future’ is held from 9 July to 19 July 2015 at Raffles City Shopping Centre, City Square (Level 3).
This year’s SYF Art Exhibition received 489 artwork entries submitted by schools across Singapore. Of the 489 entries received, 177 selected artworks are displayed at the on-site exhibition. We are honoured to receive a Special Mention given by the panel of curators. This Special Mention is given to 19 artworks selected from the 177 artworks. The art piece is a collage of two art pieces done by Lin Jia Hao and Marcus Tan Yew Hong.
The curators were impressed with the use of colours and lines presented in the art piece. Jia Hao and Marcus were invited to the SYF Art Exhibition Opening Ceremony and they were given the opportunity to showcase their artwork on stage with their Art teacher, Teacher Kenny. Their artwork entitled “Our World is Colourful” allows the audience a glimpse of how they see the world – colourful and hopeful.
Comment from the curators:
Your uninhibited use of colours and lines reminded us to appreciate the colourfulness and beauty amidst our fast-paced city life. Thank you for sharing your art with us.
