A Swimathon Effort For The Needy At Eden School

Mr Peter Ng, parent of a Pathlight student, participates annually in the Kapas-Marang 2010 International Swimathon.  He decided to use the platform this year to raise funds for Eden School’s poor and needy students.

This grueling event required participants to swim 6.5 km in the open sea from Kapas Island to mainland Marang, Terengganu.  The event, held on 18 April, saw 293 participants from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Spain and Vietnam, besides Malaysia.  The event, organised by the Terengganu government, is one of the major activities in its tourism calendar this year.

Mr Ng completed the event in a very commendable time of 3hr 20mins, coming out 43 out of 51 for men under age 49.

An estimated 70 swimmers did not complete the distance within the 4hr 30mins cut off time because of weather conditions and strong current in the later part of the race.

A total amount of $10,000 was raised by Mr Ng for Eden School. THANK YOU Mr Ng for your very generous gesture.
